Cumberland Regional Library
Children and Adults Reading Together (CART) Coordinator
Term, Sept. 9, 2019 – March 20, 2020

Location: Four Fathers Library (Amherst)

CART is a pre-literacy program that teaches reading readiness skills to children in order to help prepare them for their first year of school. Through a variety of stories, songs, games, and print related activities, the children will learn about letters and words and how they go together to form stories. Parents or caregivers will participate with their child and will learn new ways to introduce reading into all aspects of everyday life. CART is an 8 week program which is held in all 7 Cumberland Public Libraries’ branches.

Minimum grade 12, college or university preferred.
Previous library experience desirable but not essential.
Experience working with children.
Must be well organized, pay attention to detail, and work well with others.
Have a broad knowledge of literature.
Working knowledge of Windows, searching the Internet, Microsoft Office.
Ability to carry, push and pull heavy loads.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to drive the library van.

Planning and implementing CART programs
Working on the circulation desk of the Four Fathers Library
Keeping statistics
Liaising with community partners
Assisting patrons in using the library catalogue and the Internet
Carrying heavy boxes of books
Other duties as required.

This job will included some evenings and weekends.
$13.99 per hour
28 hours per week.
